Ingredients
- 450g/1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tbsp light soy sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 3–4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp ginger paste or grated ginger
- 4 tbsp honey
- ¼ tsp chili flakes (optional)
- 2 green onions, sliced
Instructions
- Prepare the Shrimp: In a medium bowl, combine soy sauce and cornstarch. Add the shrimp and toss to coat. Set aside.
- Cook the Aromatics: Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for no longer than 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Cook the Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the pan and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, depending on the size of the shrimp, until they turn pink and opaque.
- Add the Sauce: Pour in the honey and add chili flakes (if using). Toss the shrimp to coat evenly in the sauce and remove from heat.
- Garnish and Serve: Garnish with sliced green onions and serve immediately over rice or as an appetizer.
Notes
- For added flavor, you can drizzle extra honey over the shrimp after cooking.
- If you prefer a spicier version, increase the chili flakes or add a dash of hot sauce.
- Serve this dish with steamed vegetables or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
- This recipe can also be made with other proteins like chicken or tofu.
