Ingredients
- 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts, halved horizontally
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 large egg, whisked
- 1/2 cup marinara sauce
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Non-stick spray
Instructions
- Preheat air fryer to 360°F for 3–5 minutes.
- Place chicken between parchment paper and pound to even thickness. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- In one shallow dish, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan, and garlic powder. In another, whisk the egg.
- Dip each chicken breast in egg, then coat in breadcrumb mixture.
- Spritz chicken with non-stick spray and place in air fryer basket in a single layer. (Cook in batches if needed.)
- Cook at 360°F for 6 minutes, flip, and cook for another 3 minutes.
- Top each piece with 2 tablespoons marinara and 2 tablespoons mozzarella. Return to air fryer for 3 more minutes.
- Serve hot with pasta, salad, or vegetables.
Notes
- Use panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch.
- Swap marinara for your favorite tomato-based sauce or pesto.
- Best served immediately, but leftovers can be reheated in the air fryer for 3–4 minutes at 350°F.
