This Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan delivers all the flavor of the classic dish with less mess and quicker cooking time. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and topped with marinara and melty mozzarella, it’s a perfect weeknight dinner—made healthier and faster in the air fryer.

Ingredients

  • 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts, halved horizontally
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 large egg, whisked
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Non-stick spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat air fryer to 360°F for 3–5 minutes.
  2. Place chicken between parchment paper and pound to even thickness. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  3. In one shallow dish, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan, and garlic powder. In another, whisk the egg.
  4. Dip each chicken breast in egg, then coat in breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Spritz chicken with non-stick spray and place in air fryer basket in a single layer. (Cook in batches if needed.)
  6. Cook at 360°F for 6 minutes, flip, and cook for another 3 minutes.
  7. Top each piece with 2 tablespoons marinara and 2 tablespoons mozzarella. Return to air fryer for 3 more minutes.
  8. Serve hot with pasta, salad, or vegetables.

Notes

  • Use panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch.
  • Swap marinara for your favorite tomato-based sauce or pesto.
  • Best served immediately, but leftovers can be reheated in the air fryer for 3–4 minutes at 350°F.
