Warm cinnamon and maple-glazed air fryer apples are a healthy, delicious dessert option that is both vegan and gluten-free. With a perfect balance of sweetness and spice, these tender and slightly crispy apples are ideal for a quick treat or a wholesome snack.

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients

Apples

  • 2 red apples (Pink Lady, Honeycrisp, or Gala), peeled, cored, and cut into 1-inch bite-sized cubes

Glaze

  • 2 tablespoons real maple syrup, divided
  • 1 tablespoon melted refined coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 380°F and lightly spray the basket with non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Toss Apples: In a bowl, combine the peeled and cubed apples with 1 tablespoon of maple syrup, melted coconut oil, and cinnamon. Toss well to evenly coat all the apple pieces.
  3. Air Fry Apples: Place the coated apple cubes into the preheated air fryer basket in a single layer, avoiding overlap for even cooking.
  4. Cook: Air fry the apples for 10 to 14 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking. The apples should be golden, slightly crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside.
  5. Glaze and Serve: Remove the apples from the air fryer and toss them with the remaining 1 tablespoon of maple syrup while still warm. Serve immediately, optionally with vanilla ice cream or oatmeal.

Notes

  • Maple Syrup: Recommended for authenticity, but honey can be used as a substitute if preferred.
  • Coconut Oil: Use refined coconut oil to avoid a coconut flavor; olive oil is also a good alternative.
  • Storing: Best enjoyed within 20 minutes, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Reheating: Reheat in a microwave-safe bowl for 30 to 45 seconds until warm.
