A flavorful and spicy air fryer recipe featuring tender chili ginger chicken breast paired with crispy roasted Brussels sprouts, finished with a sweet chili glaze for a perfect balance of heat and sweetness. This quick and easy meal is ideal for a healthy weeknight dinner.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

Brussels Sprouts

  • 12 oz Brussels Sprouts, stemmed and halved
  • 1 Tablespoon (16g) Olive Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper

Chili Chicken

  • 1 lb Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast, diced
  • 1 Tablespoon (16g) Chili Oil
  • 2 teaspoon Ground Ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Chili Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 1/4 cup (60g) Sweet Chili Sauce, plus more for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Brussels Sprouts: Cut the stems off the Brussels sprouts and halve them. Toss the sprouts in olive oil, kosher salt, and black pepper to coat evenly.
  2. Start Air Frying Brussels Sprouts: Place the seasoned Brussels sprouts into the air fryer basket. Cook at 400ºF for 10 minutes to begin crisping them up.
  3. Season the Chicken: While the Brussels sprouts are cooking, coat the diced chicken breast with chili oil. Add ground ginger, garlic powder, chili powder, and kosher salt. Stir well to ensure the chicken is fully coated with the spices and oil.
  4. Add Chicken to Air Fryer: After 10 minutes, add the seasoned chicken to the air fryer basket with the Brussels sprouts. Gently stir to combine the ingredients evenly.
  5. Cook Chicken and Brussels Sprouts Together: Air fry at 400ºF for an additional 10-12 minutes. Stir halfway through the cooking time to ensure even crisping and thorough cooking. The chicken should reach an internal temperature between 160ºF and 165ºF.
  6. Glaze with Sweet Chili Sauce: Add 1/4 cup of sweet chili sauce to the basket and stir everything together. Air fry or optionally broil for 1-2 minutes to caramelize the sauce and enhance the flavor.
  7. Serve: Serve hot, optionally accompanied by rice, toasted sesame seeds, lime wedges, and additional sweet chili sauce as desired.

Notes

  • Make sure to check the internal temperature of the chicken to ensure it is fully cooked and safe to eat.
  • Use fresh Brussels sprouts for the best flavor and texture; trimming the stems helps them cook evenly.
  • The caramelizing step can be done in the air fryer or under the broiler for added depth of flavor.
  • Adjust chili oil and chili powder amounts to control the spice level according to taste preferences.
  • This recipe pairs well with steamed rice or a light salad for a complete meal.
