A deliciously moist and flavorful cake that captures the essence of fall with apple cider and cinnamon. This Apple Cider Donut Cake is baked to perfection, coated in cinnamon sugar, and brushed with melted butter for an irresistible treat.

  • Total Time: 1 hour
  • Yield: 12 slices

Ingredients

  • For the Cake:
  • 1 box Yellow cake mix
  • ¾ cup apple cider
  • ½ cup cinnamon apple sauce
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • ¼ teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Non-stick spray
  • For the Cinnamon Sugar Topping:
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, apple cider, apple sauce, eggs, melted butter, allspice, and vanilla extract. Use an electric mixer to blend until smooth.
  3. Prepare a bundt pan by spraying it with non-stick spray.
  4. Pour the cake batter into the bundt pan and bake for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Let the cake cool completely for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Once cooled, remove the cake from the pan. If needed, use a butter knife to gently separate the cake from the pan.
  7. Place the cake on a wire rack set over a baking sheet.
  8. In a mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.
  9. Melt the ¼ cup butter and generously brush it over the entire cake using a silicone basting brush.
  10. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the cake, pressing it into the surface. The excess sugar will fall onto the baking sheet below.
  11. Allow the cake to rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can replace the yellow cake mix with a homemade cake batter.
  • This cake pairs perfectly with a cup of hot apple cider or coffee.
  • If you want an extra touch of sweetness, drizzle the cake with a little caramel sauce after applying the cinnamon sugar.
