Sweet and lightly spiced Cinnamon Apple Bread is pure homemade comfort in loaf form. Packed with fresh apples and cinnamon sugar filling, this sweet bread is topped with a vanilla icing!

  • Total Time: 1 hour 5 minutes
  • Yield: 10 servings

Ingredients

  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ⅔ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 large apple, peeled and finely chopped (about 1 cup)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (for icing)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat granulated sugar and butter until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla extract and beat until well combined.
  4. Add flour and baking powder to the mixture, then mix in the milk until just combined.
  5. Pour half the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Top with half of the chopped apples, pressing them slightly into the batter.
  6. Sprinkle half of the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture over the apple layer.
  7. Pour the remaining batter over the apple layer. Top with the remaining apples and sprinkle with the rest of the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture.
  8. Gently pat the topping into the batter using the back of a large spoon.
  9. Bake for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Cool the bread in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth to make the icing.
  12. Drizzle the icing over the cooled bread and let it set for about 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use a firm apple like Honeycrisp or Granny Smith for best texture.
  • Let the bread cool completely before adding icing to avoid melting.
  • This bread stores well at room temperature for up to 3 days or can be frozen without icing.
