This refreshing Blueberry Lemonade combines the tartness of freshly squeezed lemons with the natural sweetness of blueberries to create a perfectly balanced, vibrant beverage that’s easy to make and perfect for warm days or gatherings.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

Blueberry Simple Syrup

  • 1/2 cup Imperial Sugar Extra Fine Granulated Sugar
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 cup water

Lemonade

  • 3/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 5 cups water
  • Ice, for serving
  • Additional blueberries, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make Blueberry Simple Syrup: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar and 1 cup of water. Stir continuously until the sugar completely dissolves. Add the blueberries and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 3 to 4 minutes until the blueberries start to break down and release their juices.
  2. Strain the Syrup: Pour the blueberry mixture through a cheesecloth or fine mesh sieve to remove solids, reserving the liquid syrup. Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature before proceeding.
  3. Combine Lemonade Ingredients: In a large pitcher, whisk together the cooled blueberry syrup, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and 5 cups of cold water until well mixed.
  4. Chill: Place the pitcher in the refrigerator and chill the lemonade until cold, about 15 to 20 minutes.
  5. Serve: Pour the blueberry lemonade over ice in glasses and garnish with extra blueberries if desired for a burst of flavor and a beautiful presentation. Enjoy immediately!

Notes

  • You can adjust the sugar quantity to your taste for a sweeter or tarter lemonade.
  • For a stronger blueberry flavor, gently muddle some blueberries before adding them to the syrup.
  • If you prefer a sparkling version, substitute some or all of the water with sparkling water when combining the ingredients.
  • Store leftover lemonade in the refrigerator for up to 2 days for best freshness.
  • This recipe can be easily doubled for larger gatherings.
