Ingredients
- For the Wings:
- 2 pounds chicken wings, cut into drumsticks and flats
- Salt and pepper to taste
- For the Sauce:
- ½ cup pineapple juice
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- ¼ cup pineapple chunks
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
Instructions
- Prep the Wings: Season the chicken wings with salt and pepper. Set aside.
- Make the Sauce: In a small saucepan, combine pineapple juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves and the sauce begins to thicken (about 5-7 minutes).
- Thicken the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to form a slurry. Add the slurry to the sauce and continue to cook for 2-3 more minutes until the sauce thickens to a glaze consistency.
- Cook the Wings: Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken wings and cook for about 10-12 minutes, flipping them occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside.
- Glaze the Wings: Add the pineapple chunks to the sauce, then pour the sauce over the cooked chicken wings. Toss the wings in the sauce to coat them evenly.
- Serve: Serve the wings immediately and enjoy the sweet and savory flavors!
Notes
- You can adjust the sweetness by adding more brown sugar if desired.
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
- These wings can also be baked in the oven if you prefer a less hands-on approach.
