Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¾ cup buttermilk
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)
- ½ cup granulated sugar (for topping)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the sugar, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and buttermilk.
- Mix Together: Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Add Topping: Once the bread is baked, brush the top with melted butter and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar topping evenly over the top.
- Cool and Serve: Let the bread cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm for the best flavor.
Notes
- For extra flavor, try adding chopped nuts or raisins to the batter.
- This bread keeps well for a few days if stored in an airtight container.
- To make the bread even more decadent, serve it with a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
