Ingredients
Gnocchi
- 1 1/2 pound gnocchi
Seasoning & Sauce
- 3 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper, or to taste
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Cook the gnocchi: Cook the gnocchi according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain them thoroughly and set aside.
- Melt the butter and toast the red pepper flakes: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add the red pepper flakes and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant, releasing their spicy aroma.
- Sauté the gnocchi: Add the drained gnocchi to the skillet with the melted butter. Increase heat to high and continuously toss the gnocchi, allowing them to crisp on all sides. This should take about 5 minutes.
- Add garlic and season: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds over medium heat to soften and release its flavor. Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add Parmesan and serve: Sprinkle the freshly grated Parmesan cheese over the gnocchi. Toss well to evenly coat the gnocchi with the cheese, creating a creamy, flavorful coating. Garnish with fresh herbs such as basil, sage, or parsley if desired, and serve warm.
Notes
- Use store-bought gnocchi for convenience or homemade for a fresher taste.
- Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes for desired spice level or omit if sensitive to spice.
- Freshly grated Parmesan is key for proper melting and flavor.
- For a richer version, sprinkle additional Parmesan before serving.
- Garnish with fresh herbs to add brightness and color.
