This Grilled Honey Mustard Chicken is a flavorful, tangy-sweet dish featuring perfectly seasoned chicken breasts grilled to perfection and basted with a homemade honey mustard sauce. It’s a simple, quick recipe that will impress with every bite!

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • For the Chicken:
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil
  • For the Sauce:
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon wholegrain mustard
  • 2 teaspoons hot sauce (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon white vinegar
  • ⅛ teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat your gas grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Prepare the chicken: Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, and dried basil. Set aside.
  3. Make the honey mustard sauce: In a mixing bowl, whisk together honey, melted butter, Dijon mustard, yellow mustard, wholegrain mustard, hot sauce (if using), white vinegar, and paprika until smooth and well combined.
  4. Remove ¼ cup of the honey mustard sauce and place it in a separate bowl for basting. Reserve the remaining sauce for dipping.
  5. Grill the chicken: Brush the grill grates with vegetable oil. Place the chicken breasts on the grill and brown for 2 minutes on each side. Brush the chicken with half of the honey mustard basting sauce. Close the grill and cook for 7 minutes.
  6. Continue grilling: Open the grill, flip the chicken, and brush with more basting sauce. Continue grilling for another 5-6 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
  7. Rest and serve: Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for 8 minutes. Slice the chicken and serve with the reserved honey mustard sauce.

Notes

  • For extra heat, increase the amount of hot sauce or add some red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • This dish pairs well with grilled vegetables or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
  • To make the sauce milder, you can reduce or omit the hot sauce altogether.
