Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- ½ cup onion, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 24-ounce jar spaghetti sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 8 ounces ziti
- 2 ½ cups beef broth
- ½ cup heavy cream
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook the Beef and Onions:
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the ground beef and diced onions. Cook until the beef is browned, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant. Discard any excess fat.
- Add the Tomato Paste and Sauce:
- Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 1 minute to combine.
- Add the spaghetti sauce and sugar. Mix well and bring to a simmer.
- Cook the Pasta:
- Add the dried ziti and beef broth to the skillet. Stir to make sure the pasta is covered with liquid.
- Turn up the heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium, cover, and cook for 12-15 minutes, or until the pasta is tender.
- Finish the Dish:
- Stir in the heavy cream and let it simmer on low heat for 8-10 minutes to thicken and combine the flavors.
- Serve:
- Garnish with freshly chopped parsley or basil and serve hot!
Notes
- Feel free to use any short pasta shape such as penne or rigatoni in place of the ziti.
- If you prefer a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the beef mixture.
- For a cheesier version, top the Beefaroni with shredded mozzarella or Parmesan cheese before serving.
