Thick, juicy beef patties seasoned and grilled to perfection, stacked with cheddar cheese, sweet honey BBQ sauce, crispy onion rings, and fresh veggies — these cowboy burgers are bold, smoky, and downright irresistible.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons Sweet Baby Ray’s Honey BBQ Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1½ tablespoons seasoned salt, divided
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • For the Toppings:
  • 8 hamburger buns
  • 16 frozen onion rings, cooked according to package instructions
  • 8 slices cheddar cheese
  • Sweet Baby Ray’s Honey BBQ Sauce (for topping)
  • Lettuce
  • Sliced tomato

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Brush and lightly oil the grates.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, 2 tablespoons BBQ sauce, mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon seasoned salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until fully combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into 8 round burger patties. Use your thumb to make a small indent in the center of each.
  4. Sprinkle the remaining ½ tablespoon seasoned salt over the patties.
  5. Grill the burgers for 3–4 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired doneness. Add cheddar cheese slices in the last minute of grilling to melt.
  6. Assemble the burgers: On each bun, layer lettuce, tomato, the grilled cheeseburger patty, a spoonful of honey BBQ sauce, and 2 crispy onion rings. Top with the bun and serve.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef for juicier burgers without excessive grease.
  • Make a thumbprint in the patties to help them cook evenly and prevent puffing.
  • Toast the buns on the grill for added texture and flavor.
