Ingredients
- 4 cups frozen fries (or homemade fries)
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning (or 2 tablespoons homemade taco seasoning)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup sour cream
- ¼ cup green onions, chopped
- ¼ cup diced tomatoes
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven and cook the fries according to package instructions, or fry them until golden and crispy if using fresh potatoes.
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain any excess fat, then add taco seasoning, salt, and pepper. Follow the seasoning packet instructions or add about ¼ cup water if using homemade seasoning. Simmer until well combined and cooked through.
- Once the fries are cooked, arrange them on a serving platter or baking sheet.
- Spoon the seasoned beef evenly over the fries, then sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
- Place the fries with beef and cheese under a broiler or back into the oven for a few minutes, until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and top with sour cream, chopped green onions, and diced tomatoes.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- For a lighter version, you can use lean ground beef or ground turkey.
- Feel free to customize with additional toppings such as guacamole, salsa, or black olives.
- If you prefer extra heat, add more jalapeños or a drizzle of hot sauce on top.
