This Shrimp Casserole is a creamy, cheesy seafood dish topped with crisp, buttery breadcrumbs. It’s quick to prepare, making it a fantastic option for both special occasions and easy weeknight dinners. Tender shrimp are seasoned with Old Bay and baked to perfection with melty mozzarella and cheddar.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs large shrimp (2124 count), peeled and deveined
  • 1 Tbsp Old Bay Seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp salt (for boiling water)
  • 2/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp butter, plus more for greasing the dish
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 4 oz shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 oz shredded medium cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 2½-quart casserole dish or oven-safe skillet with butter.
  2. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add 1 Tbsp salt and 1 Tbsp Old Bay Seasoning. Add the shrimp and cook for about 30 seconds, just until opaque. Remove shrimp with a strainer and transfer to a large mixing bowl.
  3. Let the shrimp cool for a few minutes, then drain or blot excess moisture with paper towels.
  4. Add mayonnaise, garlic powder, and black pepper to the shrimp and stir to coat. Mix in mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
  5. Transfer the mixture to the prepared casserole dish and spread evenly.
  6. Melt 1 Tbsp butter and mix with the panko breadcrumbs until evenly moistened. Sprinkle over the top of the casserole.
  7. Bake uncovered for 13–15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F. Broil for 1–2 minutes to brown the breadcrumbs.
  8. Let rest for 15 minutes before serving. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated cheese for the best melting and texture.
  • Don’t overcook the shrimp—only 30 seconds is needed in boiling water.
  • This casserole transports well and tastes great at room temperature.
  • You can substitute different cheeses like Monterey Jack or Gruyère for a twist.
