Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 200 g strawberries (approximately 1 cup sliced or 12 strawberries)
- 150 g oats (1.5 cups)
- 140 g sunflower seeds (1 cup)
- 50 g desiccated coconut (0.5 cups)
- 1 Tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
For Coating
- 2 Tbsp desiccated coconut
Instructions
- Watch the Recipe Video: Before starting, watch the quick recipe video to familiarize yourself with the process and notes about ingredient variations and adjustments.
- Prepare Strawberries: Remove the tops from the strawberries and slice or measure them to 200 g. This equals about 1 cup sliced strawberries.
- Combine Ingredients: Place the strawberries, oats, sunflower seeds, 50 g desiccated coconut, maple syrup, and vanilla essence into a food processor.
- Process the Mixture: Blend the ingredients thoroughly until the mixture forms a fine paste and comes together into a rollable dough. This may take a few minutes, so be patient and blend well.
- Chill the Mixture: Refrigerate the dough for about 30 minutes to firm it up, making it easier to handle and roll. If you used frozen berries, this step can be skipped.
- Scoop the Dough: Use a damp tablespoon to scoop out portions of the dough, which helps prevent sticking to the spoon.
- Form the Balls: With damp hands, roll the dough into smooth balls. The moisture will stop the mixture from sticking to your hands.
- Coat the Balls: Roll each ball in the 2 tablespoons of desiccated coconut by placing the coconut in a small bowl and coating each ball evenly.
- Refrigerate: Place the coated balls in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or ideally overnight, to set and develop flavors before serving.
Notes
- Using a food processor is essential to achieve the smooth, cohesive dough texture for easy rolling.
- Chilling the dough before rolling makes the process less sticky and easier to manage.
- A damp spoon and damp hands significantly reduce stickiness during shaping.
- Although coconut oil was originally suggested, this recipe works well without it.
- If you prefer, you can substitute desiccated coconut in the mixture with coconut flour as shown in the original video, but the texture will vary.
- For best taste and texture, refrigerate the bliss balls for several hours or overnight.
