This light and fluffy whipped strawberry mousse is a delightful and easy-to-make dessert perfect for any occasion. Combining creamy textures with fresh strawberry flavor, it can be made with cream cheese or coconut cream for a versatile treat that chills to a luscious consistency.

  • Total Time: 5 minutes plus chilling time (1-2 hours)
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

Base Cream

  • 8 oz cream cheese or coconut cream
  • 4 oz yogurt or additional cream cheese or coconut cream

Sweetener

  • 1 cup powdered sugar or sugar free alternative

Fruit

  • 5 medium size strawberries, stems removed

Flavoring (Optional)

  • 1/4 tsp vanilla bean paste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cream Base: If using cream cheese, allow it to come to room temperature to ensure smooth blending. If opting for coconut cream, open the can and check for a thick and creamy consistency; avoid cans with hard and flaky contents as they are unsuitable for mousse.
  2. Prepare the Strawberries: Remove all stems from the strawberries. Then, using a blender or food processor, puree the strawberries until smooth. Alternatively, you may mash them well by hand if a chunkier texture is preferred.
  3. Combine Ingredients: Add the room temperature cream cheese or coconut cream, yogurt or substitute cream, powdered sugar or sugar-free alternative, and optional vanilla bean paste into the pureed strawberries.
  4. Blend the Mousse: Using a food processor, blender, or hand mixer, blend all ingredients together until completely smooth and creamy.
  5. Chill: Transfer the mousse into serving dishes and refrigerate. Allow it to chill for enough time to thicken considerably before serving, approximately 1 to 2 hours for best texture.

Notes

  • For a dairy-free version, substitute cream cheese and yogurt with coconut cream.
  • Use sugar-free powdered sugar alternatives for a lower sugar dessert.
  • Ensure the coconut cream is thick and creamy; avoid cans that are flaky.
  • Chilling the mousse is crucial as it thickens the mixture to the perfect texture.
  • You can garnish with fresh strawberries or mint leaves before serving for an elegant presentation.
