Ingredients
Wrap & Filling
- 2 10 inch whole grain tortillas (150g)
- ¼ cup cream cheese, softened (70g)
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- ¼ tsp onion powder
- ⅛ tsp black pepper
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded (60g)
- 2 medium carrots, grated (115g)
- 2 tbsp plain yogurt (40g)
Additional Toppings
- 6 slices deli turkey meat (106g)
- 1 cup spinach (40g)
Instructions
- Prepare the filling: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, shredded cheddar cheese, grated carrots, and plain yogurt. Mix well until a consistent spreadable mixture is formed.
- Spread the filling on tortillas: Lay each tortilla flat and divide the cream cheese mixture equally between them. Using a knife or spatula, spread the filling evenly over the center area of each tortilla, leaving about an inch of space clear around the edges to prevent overflow during rolling.
- Add turkey and spinach: On top of the cream cheese spread, place half a cup of fresh spinach leaves and then layer with 3 slices of deli turkey on each tortilla.
- Roll and slice: Carefully and tightly roll each tortilla from one end to the other, ensuring the filling stays inside. Using a sharp knife, slice each rolled tortilla into 6 even pieces to create bite-sized roll ups.
- Chill (optional): For best results, wrap each roll tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving. This chilling step helps the cream cheese firm up and keeps the rolls intact when sliced. Alternatively, serve immediately if preferred.
Notes
- Use whole grain tortillas to add fiber and nutrition.
- Grating the carrots finely helps them blend smoothly in the filling.
- Chilling the roll ups before slicing improves texture but is optional.
- Substitute turkey with chicken or ham if desired.
- These roll ups are best consumed within 24 hours for freshness.
