Ingredients
Pasta
- 6 ounces Egg Noodles
Meat
- 1 pound Ground Beef
Sauce
- ¼ cup Butter
- ¼ cup Flour
- 1 cup Beef Broth
- 1 ¼ cup Milk
- ½ teaspoon Garlic Powder
- ½ teaspoon Onion Powder
- 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- ¼ cup Sour Cream
Instructions
- Cook the Noodles: Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the egg noodles according to the package instructions until tender. Drain the noodles and set them aside for later use.
- Brown the Ground Beef: Heat a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, and cook it while breaking it apart with a spoon until fully browned and no pink remains, approximately 6 to 8 minutes. Drain off any excess fat, then transfer the beef to a plate and set aside.
- Make the Roux: In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Once fully melted, sprinkle the flour in and whisk continuously for about 2 minutes to cook out the raw flour taste and form a smooth roux.
- Add the Beef Broth: Gradually pour in the beef broth while whisking constantly to prevent lumps. Continue to whisk over medium heat until the sauce thickens, about 3 to 4 minutes.
- Incorporate the Milk: Slowly add the milk to the sauce, whisking continuously and cooking over medium heat until the sauce thickens again and becomes smooth and creamy, approximately 5 to 7 minutes.
- Season the Sauce: Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt evenly into the thickened sauce, blending the flavors well.
- Combine Noodles and Beef: Lower the heat to low, add the drained noodles and browned ground beef back into the skillet, and stir gently to combine and heat everything through.
- Finish with Sour Cream: Carefully fold in the sour cream until fully incorporated, creating a rich, tangy finish to the creamy stroganoff sauce.
- Serve: Serve the ground beef stroganoff hot with a side of your favorite vegetable or garlic toast to complete the meal.
Notes
- For a thicker sauce, reduce the amount of milk slightly or cook the sauce a bit longer to reach the desired consistency.
- Drain the ground beef well to avoid a greasy or watery sauce.
- Use full-fat sour cream for the best creamy texture and flavor.
- Optional: Garnish with chopped fresh parsley or chives for added color and freshness.
- This dish pairs well with steamed green beans, broccoli, or a crisp salad.
