Ingredients
Chicken
- 8 boneless, skinless chicken thighs, fat trimmed (32 oz total)
Marinade and Sauce
- 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
- 2 1/2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 3 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 teaspoon Sriracha hot sauce
- 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
- 1 scallion, green part only, sliced for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Marinade: In a small bowl, combine the balsamic vinegar, low sodium soy sauce, honey, crushed garlic, sriracha hot sauce, and freshly grated ginger. Whisk until all ingredients are well incorporated to form the marinade.
- Marinate the Chicken: Pour half of the marinade (about 1/4 cup) into a large bowl with the chicken thighs. Toss the chicken to fully coat and marinate for at least 2 hours, or for best results, refrigerate overnight to allow flavors to deepen.
- Reserve Sauce: Set aside the remaining marinade; this will be reduced later to make a glaze.
- Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it is hot and ready for cooking the chicken evenly with a crispy finish.
- Cook the Chicken: Remove the chicken thighs from the marinade, letting excess drip off, and place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Depending on your air fryer size, cook in batches if necessary. Air fry for 14 minutes, flipping the chicken halfway through cooking to ensure even browning and thorough cooking.
- Reduce the Sauce: While the chicken cooks, place the reserved marinade in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Simmer for 1 to 2 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens and becomes a flavorful glaze.
- Serve: Drizzle the thickened Asian glaze over the cooked chicken thighs. Garnish with sliced scallions for a fresh, vibrant finish. Serve immediately while hot and enjoy this delicious Asian-inspired chicken dish.
Notes
- Marinate the chicken overnight if possible for deeper flavor infusion.
- Trim excess fat from the chicken thighs for a leaner option.
- Do not discard the reserved marinade; it becomes a delicious glaze after reduction.
- Cook chicken in batches if your air fryer basket is small to avoid overcrowding and ensure even cooking.
- The glaze can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days if made ahead.
- For a spicier kick, increase the amount of Sriracha to taste.
