This Baked Crusted Dijon Salmon recipe features tender salmon filets topped with a flavorful crust made from a blend of Dijon mustard, honey, pecans, and breadcrumbs. It’s a simple yet elegant dish perfect for a weeknight dinner or special occasion, baked to juicy perfection with a crispy, savory topping.

  • Total Time: 27 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 3 Tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp honey

Crust:

  • 1/4 cup plain breadcrumbs (regular or panko)
  • 1/4 cup very finely chopped pecans
  • 4 tsp minced fresh parsley
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp paprika

Salmon:

  • 4 (6 – 8 oz each) salmon filets (skin on or skinless)

Garnish:

  • Lemon wedges
  • Fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Make the Mustard Sauce: In a small mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, Dijon mustard, and honey. Stir well until the mixture is smooth and combined.
  3. Prepare the Crust Mixture: In another small bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, finely chopped pecans, minced fresh parsley, kosher salt, black pepper, and paprika until evenly combined.
  4. Prepare the Salmon: Place the salmon filets on the lined baking sheet. Pat them dry gently with paper towels to help the crust adhere better. Brush each filet thoroughly on both the top and bottom with the mustard butter mixture.
  5. Add the Crust: Sprinkle the breadcrumb and pecan mixture evenly over the tops of each salmon filet. Press the mixture gently on top to help it stick during baking.
  6. Bake the Salmon: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the salmon for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and the crust is golden and crisp.
  7. Serve: Garnish the baked salmon with lemon wedges and additional minced fresh parsley as desired. Serve immediately for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • You can substitute panko breadcrumbs if you prefer a lighter, crunchier crust.
  • Salmon can be baked skin on or skinless according to your preference.
  • Adjust the honey amount for more or less sweetness in the crust mixture.
  • Ensure the salmon filets are patted dry for the crust to adhere properly.
  • Serve with your favorite side dishes such as roasted vegetables or a fresh salad.
