Ingredients
Flatbread and Sauce
- 2 flatbread crusts
- 1 cup BBQ sauce, divided
Toppings
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 and 1/2 cups diced grilled chicken
- 1 small bell pepper (any color), diced
- 1/4 cup sweet onion, thinly-sliced
- Sliced green onions, for garnish (optional)
- Red pepper flakes, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and place the flatbreads on a large rimmed baking sheet to prepare for assembly.
- Spread the BBQ sauce: Spoon and swirl the BBQ sauce over each flatbread, applying just enough to create a thin, even layer. Reserve 1-2 tablespoons of sauce for drizzling on top after baking.
- Add the toppings: Evenly sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the BBQ sauce layer, followed by the diced grilled chicken, diced bell pepper, and thinly sliced sweet onion to build flavor and texture.
- Bake the flatbreads: Place the baking sheet into the preheated oven and bake for 9 to 12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling, and the edges of the flatbread are browned and crisp.
- Finish and serve: Remove the flatbreads from the oven, drizzle with the reserved BBQ sauce, and garnish with sliced green onions and red pepper flakes if desired. Slice and serve immediately.
Notes
- You can use any color of bell pepper based on your preference or what you have on hand.
- Grilled chicken can be prepared ahead of time or substituted with rotisserie chicken for convenience.
- For extra spice, increase the amount of red pepper flakes or add a dash of hot sauce before serving.
- Flatbread crusts can vary in thickness; adjust baking time slightly if needed to avoid burning.
- This recipe can be easily doubled for larger gatherings.
