A quick and delicious BBQ Chicken Flatbread recipe featuring crispy flatbread topped with tangy BBQ sauce, melted mozzarella cheese, diced grilled chicken, colorful bell peppers, and sweet onions. Perfect for a flavorful meal ready in just 20 minutes.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Flatbread and Sauce

  • 2 flatbread crusts
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce, divided

Toppings

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 and 1/2 cups diced grilled chicken
  • 1 small bell pepper (any color), diced
  • 1/4 cup sweet onion, thinly-sliced
  • Sliced green onions, for garnish (optional)
  • Red pepper flakes, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and place the flatbreads on a large rimmed baking sheet to prepare for assembly.
  2. Spread the BBQ sauce: Spoon and swirl the BBQ sauce over each flatbread, applying just enough to create a thin, even layer. Reserve 1-2 tablespoons of sauce for drizzling on top after baking.
  3. Add the toppings: Evenly sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the BBQ sauce layer, followed by the diced grilled chicken, diced bell pepper, and thinly sliced sweet onion to build flavor and texture.
  4. Bake the flatbreads: Place the baking sheet into the preheated oven and bake for 9 to 12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling, and the edges of the flatbread are browned and crisp.
  5. Finish and serve: Remove the flatbreads from the oven, drizzle with the reserved BBQ sauce, and garnish with sliced green onions and red pepper flakes if desired. Slice and serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can use any color of bell pepper based on your preference or what you have on hand.
  • Grilled chicken can be prepared ahead of time or substituted with rotisserie chicken for convenience.
  • For extra spice, increase the amount of red pepper flakes or add a dash of hot sauce before serving.
  • Flatbread crusts can vary in thickness; adjust baking time slightly if needed to avoid burning.
  • This recipe can be easily doubled for larger gatherings.
