- ½ cup honey
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Pinch or more of cayenne pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Dash of hot sauce
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: Whisk all of the ingredients together in a large bowl until they are thoroughly mixed and smooth.
- Simmer the Sauce: Transfer the mixture to a small pot and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking and to help the flavors meld.
- Cool the Sauce: Remove the sauce from heat and allow it to cool to room temperature.
- Refrigerate: Pour the cooled sauce into a jar, cover it, and refrigerate for at least one day to let the flavors fully develop and mingle.
- Serve: When ready to use, warm the sauce gently in a small pot before serving with your favorite grilled meats or as a dipping sauce.
Notes
- For a spicier sauce, increase the amount of cayenne pepper and hot sauce.
- Honey adds natural sweetness; substitute with maple syrup for a different flavor profile.
- This sauce keeps well in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
- Make sure to whisk well to prevent lumps from forming.
