This creamy Garlic Parmesan Pasta is a quick and easy one-pot recipe perfect for a weeknight dinner. Made with angel hair pasta simmered in a flavorful garlic butter sauce enriched with chicken broth, milk, and plenty of Parmesan cheese, it delivers a comforting and cheesy twist that’s ready in just 20 minutes. Garnished with fresh parsley, this dish pairs beautifully with garlic bread for a satisfying meal the whole family will love.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Pasta and Liquids

  • 8 oz. angel hair pasta
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk

Flavoring and Seasonings

  • 4 cloves fresh garlic (minced)
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese (finely grated)
  • 3 Tablespoons butter (divided: 2 tablespoons + 1 tablespoon)
  • Fresh parsley (to garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Parmesan Cheese: Grate the Parmesan cheese finely and set it aside to come to room temperature, which helps it melt smoothly into the sauce later.
  2. Melt Butter and Cook Garlic: In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, stirring occasionally, until fragrant but not browned.
  3. Add Liquids and Bring to Boil: Pour in the chicken broth and then slowly add the milk while stirring to combine. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  4. Cook Pasta: Add the angel hair pasta to the boiling liquid. You can break the noodles in half if needed to fit them in the skillet more easily. As the pasta softens, use kitchen tongs to gently twist it into the liquid so it cooks evenly.
  5. Simmer Pasta: Allow the pasta to simmer for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. Reduce the heat to low once the pasta is nearly tender but still has a slight bite.
  6. Add Butter and Toss: Stir in the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter, tossing the pasta to coat it evenly with the buttery sauce.
  7. Incorporate Parmesan Cheese: Gradually sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese into the pasta, stirring continuously until the sauce becomes smooth and creamy. The sauce may appear thin initially but will thicken as it sits and the pasta absorbs the flavors.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle fresh parsley over the pasta for a bright finish. Serve immediately, ideally alongside garlic bread with cheese for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Angel hair pasta cooks very quickly; follow package times carefully to avoid overcooking, which can cause noodles to become clumpy.
  • Allow the Parmesan cheese to come to room temperature before adding to the sauce for better melting and creaminess.
  • You can break pasta noodles in half to fit the skillet better and help them cook evenly.
  • The sauce will thicken upon standing as the pasta absorbs more liquid, so don’t worry if it seems thin at first.
  • Serve with garlic bread with cheese for a delicious complementary side.
