Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 2 (12.5-oz) cans of chicken or 2.5 cups finely shredded chicken breasts or rotisserie chicken
- 1 (8-oz) package light cream cheese or Neufchatel, softened
- ½ cup Frank’s hot sauce
- ½ cup mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
- ¼ cup chopped green onion
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ¾ cup cheddar cheese for topping
Optional Toppings
- Additional chopped green onion
- Blue cheese crumbles
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish or any round/square dish of similar size. Note if your dish is larger, reduce the cooking time accordingly.
- Shred Chicken: In a large bowl, shred the canned chicken or cooked chicken breasts finely using a fork to make the dish smooth and well combined.
- Combine Ingredients: Add the softened cream cheese, Frank’s hot sauce, mozzarella cheese, and plain Greek yogurt to the shredded chicken. Stir all ingredients thoroughly until well combined into a creamy mixture.
- Add Seasonings and Green Onion: Mix in the chopped green onions, garlic powder, and onion powder evenly into the mixture for added flavor.
- Transfer and Top: Pour the chicken mixture into the prepared baking dish. Evenly sprinkle the cheddar cheese over the top to create a flavorful topping.
- Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 16 to 20 minutes or until the dip is bubbly and the cheese on top is melted and slightly golden.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven and optionally top with additional chopped green onions and blue cheese crumbles. Serve immediately with fresh veggies or tortilla chips for dipping.
Notes
- For a spicier dip, add more Frank’s hot sauce or a pinch of cayenne pepper.
- Use rotisserie chicken for a quicker prep and added flavor.
- To make this dip lower in fat, use reduced-fat cheeses and Greek yogurt.
- If using fresh chicken breasts, cook and shred them before using.
- Adjust the baking time if using a larger or smaller baking dish.
- Blue cheese is optional; omit if you prefer a milder flavor.
