Ingredients
Strawberry Syrup
- 1 ¼ cups strawberries – fresh or frozen
- ¼ cup sugar (adjust for sweetness preference)
- ⅓ cup fresh strawberries, cut into 1 cm (⅓ inch) pieces
Drink
- 2 cups milk of choice (coconut milk recommended)
Optional
- Whipped cream for topping
Instructions
- Prepare Strawberry Puree: Puree 1¼ cups of strawberries using a blender, food processor, or masher. If using frozen strawberries, thaw them slightly in the microwave or use a high-speed blender for smooth puree.
- Cook Strawberry Syrup: In a small pot, combine the strawberry puree, sugar, and one-third of the cut strawberry pieces. Heat the mixture until it comes to a boil, then let it boil for 1 minute. Turn off the heat and allow the syrup to cool on the counter or chill it in the refrigerator.
- Assemble the Drink: Divide the remaining cut strawberries and the cooled strawberry syrup evenly into two 16-ounce glasses. Swirl the syrup and strawberry pieces around the glass to create a decorative pattern.
- Add Milk: Pour 1 cup of your chosen milk into each glass over the strawberry mixture. Serve immediately for best taste and freshness.
- Optional Topping: Add whipped cream on top of each glass if desired for an extra indulgent touch.
Notes
- You can skip the boiling step for a fresher, more vibrant strawberry flavor, but consume the drink the same day as the puree will be more watery and less preserved.
- Using coconut milk adds a pleasant richness and subtle sweetness, but any milk can be used to suit dietary preferences.
- Adjust sugar quantity depending on the sweetness of your strawberries or personal taste.
- Fresh strawberries are preferred but frozen can be used in a pinch; thawing helps with blending.
