Ingredients
Sauce Ingredients
- ½ cup honey
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 tablespoons sriracha (or more to taste)
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 2 cloves garlic (finely minced)
Chicken
- 8 chicken drumsticks (skin-on or skinless)
Garnish
- Green onions (sliced)
- Sesame seeds
- Lime wedges
Instructions
- Make sauce: In a small bowl, combine the honey, ketchup, sriracha, rice vinegar, soy sauce, grated ginger, and minced garlic. Stir well until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed to create the flavorful glaze.
- Preheat oven: Heat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit (220 degrees Celsius) to prepare for baking the chicken.
- Prepare chicken: Arrange the 8 chicken drumsticks in a single layer in a suitable baking dish to ensure even cooking.
- Coat chicken with sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken drumsticks, making sure to mix and coat each piece evenly with the glaze.
- Bake chicken: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake uncovered for 30 minutes, allowing the chicken to cook through and absorb the flavors.
- Baste and continue baking: After 30 minutes, baste the chicken with the accumulated sauce from the pan. Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes, basting two more times during this period to build a sticky, flavorful glaze.
- Serve: Once cooked and glossy, remove the chicken from the oven. Garnish with sliced green onions, sesame seeds, and lime wedges. Serve hot with the sticky sauce from the pan drizzled over the top.
Notes
- You can adjust the amount of sriracha to make the dish milder or spicier according to your taste preference.
- Using skin-on chicken will result in a crispier texture, while skinless will be leaner.
- Make sure to baste the chicken several times during the last 15 minutes of baking to develop a deeper glaze flavor and sticky texture.
- Serve with steamed rice or vegetables for a complete meal.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated gently in the oven or microwave.
