Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 2 Cups All-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons Baking powder
- 1 tablespoon Granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 Tablespoons Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 Cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 Jalapeno, diced small
Wet Ingredients
- 2 Eggs, room temperature
- 1 cup Milk, room temperature
- 1/2 cup Butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) to prepare for baking the bread.
- Prepare Pan: Grease and flour a 9-inch loaf pan and line it with parchment paper for easy removal of the bread once baked.
- Sift Dry Ingredients: Sift together the all-purpose flour and baking powder into a large mixing bowl to ensure even distribution and light texture.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: Add the granulated sugar, salt, onion powder, grated Parmesan cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, and diced jalapeños to the sifted flour mixture and stir until well mixed.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate small bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until smooth and well combined.
- Combine Wet and Dry: Slowly pour and stir the egg and milk mixture into the dry ingredients, then add the melted butter, mixing gently until just combined to avoid overmixing the batter.
- Fill Pan and Bake: Scoop the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Optionally, garnish the top with jalapeño slices. Bake for 60-80 minutes, checking at 45 minutes to see if the bread surface needs to be covered with aluminum foil to prevent over-browning. The bread is done when a cake tester inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing it to a wire rack to cool completely or serve warm for best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Check the bread at 45 minutes to cover with foil if it browns too quickly to prevent burning.
- Use room temperature eggs and milk for a better rise and texture.
- For less heat, remove jalapeño seeds before dicing.
- The bread can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerated for up to 5 days.
- This bread pairs well with soups, salads, or as a spicy snack on its own.
