Ingredients
Nuoc Cham Dipping Sauce Ingredients
- 1 cup warm water
- ½ cup fish sauce
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup lime juice (freshly squeezed)
- 1-2 teaspoons garlic chili paste (to taste)
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1-2 Thai chilis (chopped, optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the ingredients: Mince the garlic cloves finely and freshly squeeze the lime juice from the limes to ensure a bright, fresh citrus flavor.
- Mix the sauce: In a medium mixing bowl, combine warm water, fish sauce, granulated sugar, lime juice, minced garlic, and garlic chili paste. Stir the mixture thoroughly until all the sugar is fully dissolved. For additional spiciness, stir in the chopped Thai chilis according to your heat preference.
- Serve or store: The Nuoc Cham sauce can be served immediately as a vibrant dipping sauce or dressing. Alternatively, transfer it to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks. Be sure to mix well before each use as ingredients can settle.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of garlic chili paste and Thai chilis to control the spiciness level.
- Use warm water to help dissolve the sugar faster and evenly.
- Fresh lime juice is preferred for the best authentic flavor.
- Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to two weeks.
- This sauce pairs wonderfully with grilled meats, spring rolls, vermicelli noodles, and salads.
