Ingredients
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh or frozen strawberries
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla bean paste (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Strawberries: Add the strawberries into a saucepan over medium heat. Begin mashing the berries gently with a fork to release their juices and break them down.
- Add Chia Seeds and Vanilla: Once the strawberries are mostly mashed, stir in the chia seeds and vanilla bean paste if using. This will help thicken the jam and add flavor.
- Brief Boil: Allow the mixture to come to a boil for 10 to 15 seconds to activate the chia seeds and slightly cook the jam. Then, remove the saucepan from heat.
- Cool and Store: Transfer the jam into a clean glass jar and let it cool completely. Enjoy immediately or refrigerate for up to 1 week.
Notes
- You can use fresh or frozen strawberries; frozen will work just as well once thawed.
- For a smoother jam, blend the strawberries briefly before cooking.
- The vanilla bean paste is optional but adds a lovely aroma and depth of flavor.
- The chia seeds naturally thicken the jam without the need for added pectin or sugar.
- Store the jam refrigerated and consume within 1 week for best freshness.
