Ingredients
Dip Ingredients
- 3 roasted bell peppers (jarred or home-roasted)
- 11 ounces feta cheese
- ⅔ cup Greek yogurt
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 1 clove garlic, grated (more to taste)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
For Serving
- About 2 ounces (50 grams) feta cheese, for mashing
- Extra pinch of dried oregano
- Extra pinch of red pepper flakes
- Extra virgin olive oil, for drizzling
- Crispy pita chips or vegetable sticks
- Optional for pita chips: pita bread triangles, olive oil for tossing
Instructions
- Prepare the dip ingredients: In a food processor, add the roasted bell peppers, 11 ounces of feta cheese, Greek yogurt, olive oil, vinegar, grated garlic, dried oregano, and red pepper flakes. Ensure all ingredients are measured and ready before blending.
- Blend until creamy: Process the mixture for about 2 minutes or until you achieve a smooth, creamy texture. Stop and scrape down the sides as needed to ensure even blending.
- Mash extra feta for texture: In a separate serving bowl, use a fork to mash approximately 2 ounces (50 grams) of feta cheese, creating a rich and chunky consistency. This adds delightful texture to the dip.
- Combine and garnish: Stir the creamy dip into the mashed feta gently. Top with a pinch of dried oregano, extra red pepper flakes, and a drizzle of quality extra virgin olive oil to enhance the flavors.
- Prepare the pita chips (optional): Cut pita bread into triangles. Toss the triangles with a drizzle of olive oil and toast them in a preheated oven or air fryer until golden and crunchy, about 8-10 minutes at 375°F (190°C).
- Serve: Serve the spicy feta dip alongside the pita chips or fresh vegetable sticks as a flavorful appetizer or side dish, perfect with grilled foods.
Notes
- You can adjust the amount of garlic and red pepper flakes based on your spice preference.
- If using fresh bell peppers, roast them until skin is charred before peeling and using.
- Greek yogurt adds creaminess but can be substituted with a dairy alternative for a different texture.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Pita chips can be made ahead and stored in an airtight container to maintain crunchiness.
